How Goto is taking your local convenience store online

How often has it happened that you get to a store after work, only to find it closed?

An e-commerce venture is trying to change that by bringing the local stores in your vicinity online.Goto.com.pk is a budding e-commerce venture that offers a hassle-free online shopping experience to shoppers in Pakistan. The emerging marketplace has recently spearheaded a campaign called ‘Shutterband’ (closed shutters). As part of the campaign, they have started placing an interesting message on the shutters of various shops in Karachi: “Closed here. Still open at Goto.com.pk”.The aim of this campaign is to help shop owners increase sales by expanding their business hours and continue taking orders online from customers at any time of the day. With this message, Goto helps shop owners easily communicate their digital presence to shoppers and facilitates consumers and shop owners alike in continuing to do business at any time of the day or from any location. According to Sr. Marketing Manager Goto, Shamail Wasi, “This initiative is a part of our larger strategy to revolutionise Pakistan’s e-commerce industry. We strive to facilitate as many consumers as we can to not be bound by their busy schedule anymore.”The campaign primarily aims to eliminate the time and place constraints that consumers and shop owners faced prior to the emergence of e-commerce in Pakistan.“This is also a great opportunity for shop owners to increase their sales and they don’t need to spend extra investment to promote or expand their business.”
